Thinking Ahead

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." ...Romans 12:2

This photo? It's one of my favorites which I've taken. Ever.

I remember rolling my suitcase behind me down a wide hall in the Reno, NV train station and then oh! I stepped into that room and gasped at its glowing beauty.

Can't you just imagine appearing at a place like that--poof!--after you die, then catching a train from there to Heaven?

Well, I can, anyway.  ツ

Some Christians keep talking about how ugly this world is getting--and ok--it is pretty dreadful. I get that.

But you know? I keep thinking about this verse:

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."   ... John 10:10

Personally, I believe Jesus died--not only so we'd have Heaven at our journey's end--but so we'd also have a full, adventurous journey here, as well. He's so present within us, beside us. He helps us view this miraculous life His way, with much appreciation and also, compassion for folks who just don't get the whole God thing.

Yet if,most days, we concentrate upon the negative stuff? Then, well, we've made God too small in our eyes and the garbage has become bigger than He is (!)

And I am determined not to let that happen. Instead, I'm aiming to splash around within that abundant life.

May my mind be so renewed with God's word that--when I reach Heaven--I'll fit right in from the start, rather than needing the super-duper course in Heavenly Thinking.

I want to be ready early. I long to find the bits of Heaven here which Jesus died to give me.

I want to finish well.

And in the meantime? I'm greatly enjoying this earthly journey because of my Creator. He makes everything, better, and creates moments to treasure for both lifetimes, here and over there in His neighborhood.

That picture brought me back to our towns train station which was also lovely. Oh the memory! :) I get you...I really do. It is not easy to keep your mind on the pleasant when family and friends seem to constantly bring you up short and take sure you know all the Bad stuff in the world. I read of office workers who put signs on their desk saying "my desk is a no gossip zone" and other such messages. Perhaps I should have a sign to show when talk turns to the bad? :) :) I have learned to not react or keep the conversation going in the bad direction. Sure helps. Years ago I heard of a women who put a stone by her telephone. It reminded her to not cast the first stone while on the phone. I kept a stone by mine for years till I finally realized that even without the stone I remembered the thought. I try to keep more of a Pollyanna attitude. Thanks for sharing your God School with us here. Thanks Ever So Much Debra. Sarah

Lovely header! Change is always good.

This shot reminds me a little of the old library I grew up in in NYS in the 60's and 70's. Makes me think of the smell of old wood and old books....and card catalogs. Nice.

What a lovely picture. I needed this post today, it brought me to tears. With things going on in the world, things here in the state of NJ, and things in my own family, I have been feeling, well, not very joyful.

I must refocus my eyes on HIM!
