Gratitude, Even With Just 12 Degrees

A bit of snow today and just 12 degrees, but that's ok. This is winter in Buffalo and we've gotten by so easily thus far. No complaints from me. Not today.

No, Today I'm grateful for this Hobbit Cottage from God and a sweet email from Naomi. Good books in my tiny library up here in Debra's World and lovely vintage music playing on my retro-looking radio.

The occasional slant of sunlight through the windows and food stockpiled in my basement kitchen, tv shows I like and a computer which connects me to a whole world of people.

And I'm grateful for a husband who's always here and who, ok, watches too much tv and makes me a tad crazy at times. But I love him and he's helpful, makes me laugh and is still here and--yesterday morning my friend, Judy F., lost her husband of more than 35 years.

And I feel so badly for her, for the hurt of having someone beside her for decades then having him no more because, at not even yet 60, he moved on to Heaven and waits for her there.

No, no complaints about winter from me today. Only gratitude for what I still have. Today, oh amazing Today, so full because of the great big God who lives inside me and comforts me as no one else can.

Most of all on this cold, cold day I am grateful for Him.

Wow...12 is a bit cooler than only 29 like it was this AM. But we need to think of it as a good time for killing off insects at least!! Ours is to be gone by the weekend and then up to 60...so might not be long enough of a freeze.

So sorry about your friend, that is not the one who writes a blog listed here is it? We are surely at an age that we have no promise of tomorrow. I have been quite ill and a couple nights I was asking the FATHER is my time was up...

Nice snow photos!! I prefer to look and not walk in it however!!
Blessings, Elizabeth in NC

We had some earlier snow, but everything is bare and brown around here. I think we need the snow to "color" the countryside and make it less bleak.

Prayers for your friend who lost her husband. I can't imagine what it's like after so many years. May she feel God's comfort.
