It's snowing. Again. But hey, that's ok because neither Tom nor I need to drive in it and--don't tell anyone--I may even stay in my nightgown and robe all this dark day. Shhh.
Long ago I discovered what I dislike about snow--it's when Tom must walk or drive in it. So if I've complained less about it (I have), you know why--Tom's spending most of this winter in South Africa where it's currently late summer.
Anyway. Most likely later (squirm alert) I'll throw my long black coat over my robe and shovel out to the garage where I'll pour birdseed into a clear shoebox, then trudge my way to the feeder. Poor shivering sparrows... the least I can do is help keep them warm, even still in my robe, even when I could choose to remain inside where it's blessedly warm.
Now, I do change into regular clothes 98% of these snowing-like-crazy days, but I'll confess: living alone does appeal to my inner lazy and it's ever so tempting to do just enough to get by on days like these.
There, I said it. :)

My vintage seed packet postage stamps arrived! Aren't they gorgeous?
Instantly they reminded me of this chart ...
... from my 1924 copy of The Home, a (rare-ish) book given exclusively for a one-year paid subscription to Woman's Weekly Magazine. Mine was a yard sale find probably 10 years ago and something I never tire of perusing.
I actually read a Christian statement somewhere this week where the author said, "those who are satisfied with little things are sad folks," (my paraphrase).
Of course, I disagree (though, ok.. I can see the point at which he originally aimed, you know, about settling for less than God's best. But still, there's balance).
But whatever, I believe when we discover the wonder of small things, we become rich, for this world is stuffed with zillions of small things and happy is the woman who finds them and gives them the wonder and care they are due.

Speaking of treasured small things...When Naomi went on that cruise, she met Maggie Rose, Tom's current favorite female country artist. Well, yesterday Naomi posted a tiny video she'd made while standing around with Maggie Rose in which Maggie says hi to Tom and oh my goodness! That absolutely thrilled Tom's heart. A small thing, but it felt huge to him, and isn't that what it's all about?
(That link will take you to my favorite of Maggie's songs.)

Oh! And speaking of Naomi, I'd so appreciate if you'd pray for her (and her band's) safety today as she flies to Germany/Switzerland and tours for a couple weeks. Thank-you much!
