Clearly the World Has Changed. I Know that Now. :)

"Apart from me you can do nothing." ... John 15:5

*****

So. Tom became tired of our 'baby cable' and signed us up to get 70 channels instead of our Debra-thought-it-was-plenty 18. All for (supposedly, but we'll see how it goes) an extra 5 dollars per month.

Alas. We tend to watch tv separately, in different rooms, when we have more channels and I considered making a big deal about his signing-up without letting me voice my "Uh. I don't think so," vote, first, but decided to just make a little deal about it and move on.

I'm learning that Life is too short to waste whole days and--heaven forbid--weeks staying mad about others' choices and trying to change what I cannot. I watch others do that and I shake my head sadly so, well, I don't want God to shake His head while watching me.

But here's the real Twilight Zone-ish thing. Guess when the cable company said an employee would come to our house and get us set up? This morning between 8 and 9. A Sunday morning!

Gasp!

In all my 29 55 years, I've never heard of such a thing. An appointment with the cable guy on a Sunday morning! If I didn't already believe that the world has changed, I'd certainly believe it now.

Heh.

You know, don't you, that tons of preachers/teachers/bloggers would love this story and they'd use it to declare that society has lost all respect for what Sunday once stood for and what God meant it to be. And yes, I'm thinking they have.

Yet I'll not do that, especially having lived with a man who worked a thousand Sundays while employed by power plants (people needing electricity 24/7, and all).

No, as I said, Life is too short and too delicious (with God) to spend it in a whiny huff about things I cannot change.

I totally believe in choosing ones battles and may mine be worthy ones, those which God created me to fight, for those are the only skirmishes He and I have a chance of winning. Together.

Tuesday I'll show you the cute little things I found at yard sales yesterday. I'm still on weekend vacation mode right now and feeling pretty lazy.  :)

I agree to choose one's battles, and to let some things alone. We have lots of channels, maybe 70, but tv seems to interest us not at all. We were going to cancel cable but they lowered our rate by $20 a month so we are keeping it.

Terra--how great that they lowered your bill $20! I'm a visual learner so I love tv. :) I find it great fun to learn about decorating, history, human-nature (good and bad), the Bible, current events and how-to's of making everything from crafts to movies to a difference in this world. I often feel like I'm taking college courses when I watch tv. :) Thanks for commenting! Blessings, Debra
