Autumn From a Speeding Car

Tom and I drove out into the countryside this rainy morning, out to our former farmland so that he could have breakfast with his buddy, Al, while I read decorating magazines and drank coffee at the supermarket in a place I fondly call Grover's Corners (you know, from the play, Our Town). 'Corners' is in the real-life title of this tiny town, though.

Oh, what we saw on this first day of Autumn!

My pictures do it all no justice.

But then, these were taken from a speeding car, after all.

And anytime we rush things in this Life, it turns out not as well as it would have if we'd just s-l-o-w  d-o-w-n. And take time to breathe and appreciate and whisper a grateful prayer in the middle.

And just think! This is just the beginning. Only the beginning....

And just a few more...

Your photos remind me that fall is here with more on the way. Your day sounds enjoyable, out in the country.

Oh it has been so long since we have driven to the country. Everyone in our family used to drive out to pick wild flowers, have a picnic ,collect pretty leaves, tramp around and just marvel at the sights. Wildlife and new sounds and beauty all around. A lot of the time we ended up going into the more hilly areas and collecting water coming out of the side of the mountain to take home too. It was so cool and good !! :) There is nothing like that where I live now. Hardly any trees change colors here in the fall. Too hot. That makes the few that do stand out for sure. Sounds like you two are taking a mini vacation. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Sarah

I wanted to add I loved the look of the last photo. The barn with the light streaming down on it and hazy like that looked so amazing to me. Sarah

I do miss the fall color of the east coast. I grew up on Maple Avenue. : ) Beautiful.
