This and That. (Yes, Again.)

(Loved that. Needed that. Was helped by it.)

******

1.) On Saturday, Tom and I watched (On Demand) The Professor and The Madman. Oh! Interesting film, the true story of the Oxford English Dictionary's creation, which hey, might sound Dullsville, but certainly was not. Check out this trailer

Four thumbs up from Tom and me.  ツ

2.) Know why you'll never see me post meme's like these (well, hopefully)?

Because of this:

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love... By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another... if I have not love, I am nothing... If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen."   (Taken from John, 1 John and 1 Corinthians 13.)

(Yikes.)

3.) Want to perhaps swing your friends/relatives over to your way of thinking about, well, certain things? You might want to avoid this:

"If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other."   ... Galations 5:15

And try this, instead:

"The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. A soft answer turns away wrath."   ... Proverbs 16:21, Proverbs 15:1

Hey, it can't make things worse.

4.) Just for fun--

6.) Oh! Did you know that some essential oils are harmful to pets? These, below, are dangerous for cats (check ones for dogs, here) --

  • Wintergreen
  • Sweet birch
  • Citrus (d-limonene)
  • Pine
  • Ylang ylang
  • Peppermint
  • Cinnamon
  • Pennyroyal
  • Clove
  • Eucalyptus
  • Tea tree (melaleuca)
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Lavender
(Man, all the good ones, right? Bummer.)

7.) Be still my heart!

8.) Oh! Keep forgetting to tell you 'my' coffee shop appears to be doing great now. Always other customers come in while I'm there and I heard Amy tell her uncle that, after the first year, they made a profit. So thanks for your prayers!

9.) Gee, it's good for former(?) control freak me to watch House Hunters. Nearly always the couple chooses the house they complained about the most, the one I think is nothing like their Must Have List, so that means I must let it go because it's none of my business.

Just. Let. It. Go. Debra.

Heh. Like I said. It's good for me.

10.) Finally and oh my! This video was special. But don't watch it if you've just applied your make-up or you're a man or woman at work!  ツ

A special thanks to Lynn for sharing this with me at Facebook!

And one more smile for today--

Well Debra, you were right. That video had me sobbing. Great post today as usual with lots of lessons for me along the way. I don't watch House Hunters as much as I used to. I love to look at the houses, but listening to the people whine about what they "just couldn't live with," annoyed me so much I had to quit watching it. Actually, I think they would be surprised at what they could live with if they had to. :-) . So instead of feeling annoyed all of the time, I stopped watching for the most part.
I know, I know. I shouldn't let it get to me, but knowing lots of people who would love to have any of those houses that were being picked apart, especially the gorgeous vintage kitchens, it was better to just stop watching. :-)
Have a wonderful Tuesday my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

Debra, your posts always make me think. The way we treat others really does matter. Out of our hearts, our mouths speak. There have been times in my life when bitterness and disappointment filled my heart, and my words and actions reflected it. God has been patient with me and because he continued to love me, my heart was changed. And the way I see others has changed. There's always hope for each of us!!

Oh Betsy! I know exactly what you mean and that's why I always watch House Hunters On Demand--that way I can forward the parts where they sound so spoiled rotten. :) But I do enjoy hearing how the couples met and seeing how they agree on certain things (it's restored my faith in today's marriages, actually). Also? My love for houses is so great and that's mainly why I keep watching. It's still like a dream come true to be able to peek inside other peoples' houses! (I've been a house lover since I was around age 12. heh.)

Pam--I'm glad my posts make you think. I always enjoy seeing which parts you comment upon and add your thoughts!

Thanks so much, Ladies! Blessings, Debra

As always, you have another awesome post for us and thank you for that!

You make me think as well (just like Pam said you do her.)

Loved the video and posted it on my Facebook page this evening and another thing I loved was the picture you posted, saying "I told you I'd be ready in 5 minutes ... quit calling me every half hour." Too funny! I love any - well, not just "any" but a lot of pics like that as long as they're funny and not vulgar.

It seems lately I've seen so many absolutely vulgar ones when I was looking for different things on Pinterest, especially when I was looking for cross stitch type patterns. The ones some of them had posted I was actually shocked that there were that many people who would post things such as that. So sad how bad things have gotten these days.

Thanks, Debi! I'm so happy you enjoyed that video as much as I (we) did.And I totally know what you mean about the vulgar stuff. I do spend much time looking around on Pinterest for meme's so I come across some of that also. sigh. Sometimes it helps to put the letters'PG' in front of whatever I'm searching for. Oh well! It's always worth finding nice, decent treasures to share with others and I can ask God to blot out the junk from my mind which I had to wade through first. heh..

Thanks again! Blessings, Debra
