After The Disappointment

Sigh. Don't you hate it when something/someone majorly disappoints and unfairly hurts you? Well, that happened to me this weekend.

*&!$#@. But please don't ask. I so don't want to talk about it.

Instead, I'd like to report that Jesus is awesome in the Cheering Up Department. Following a rough night, I came down here to the computer and He made certain I saw this photo (from an upcoming tv show)--

... and He reminded me that, always, He is there for me that way. Close, concerned, and focused upon healing any new tear in my heart.

That photo encouraged me for hours.

He sent other I'm-thinking-of-you notes, also. Like these sentences from this week's Chicago Med (anyone else love this show?).

Near the end, Dr. Will said to Nurse April, "You've got to learn to deal with things, April. This world isn't perfect."

Oh my goodness.

Now, hadn't I heard words like those before? Of course. But their timing helped soothe, then seal the last rip of my recent wound. You know, rather like this:

"Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances."   ... Proverbs 25:11

(So if God nudges you to speak encouraging words you think someone's already heard? Just. Say. Them.)

And now, for me, (and for your sake), it's time to move on. Time to consistently choose brighter, more grateful thoughts and a few new projects, as well.

Don't you love the way God can customize our healing because, after all, He's our Maker? How important, then, does it become to learn to receive that healing.

Receive, receive, receive.

Speaking of new projects:

To the left of our front door I want to hang pencil sketches (by artists, not by me, for hey, who wants to look at stick figures?) in small black frames.

I spent much of yesterday wading through postcard-sized sketches on Ebay, saw all sorts of stuff, then discovered perfection. Notice the original price: I'm thinking these may be from the 1950's:

Stay tuned for the final result.  :)

Oh! And thanks so much to you who prayed for Naomi and Justin's trip down South. They had a wonderful time and made it home safely. God bless you for praying!

I'm trying so hard to be patient, and try to learn whatever God is trying to teach me right now with yet another health thing happening. I do know there's a reason for everything and I appreciate your words. I need to keep my eyes and ears open for the message He is giving me.

On another note I love the pencil sketches. I think they're going to be beautiful when it's finished. Have a lovely day my friend.
Blessings, Betsy

Those sketches will look good on your wall, and how nice to find the comforting image in the morning. In Bible study we are reading Romans where Paul talks about our different gifts, one of which is encourager, which we can all hope to find and to be, from time to time.

Wow! I had the same kind of weekend Debra so, I can sure relate. I hardly ever cry anymore (guess I've grown up some?). But this weekend?? Nope. Cried and cried! All because of some things others said and did. The song came back to me, Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace. Trying to keep my eyes focused on Him! Linda in Michigan

Sometimes a person just wonders why life has to hurt so much! I've asked that question--especially this year. No one wants to hurt, but the good thing about it is the Lord teaches us about himself as we endure.
Deborah, I'm proud of you for taking the high road, and I appreciate your sharing your experience with us. How sweet that we can encourage one another to turn our eyes on Jesus.

i can so relate to those 'thinking of you notes' from the Lord ... i've been in a season of upheaval ... and what i see as unfairness from folks who we've always been there for and helped ... needless to say the old brain has gone on that loop - replaying, and then replaying again and again to ad nauseum! ... that's when God reminds me that i'm not the only one who has been betrayed and talked about and unfairly used ... the bible has a WHOLE host of people that happened to ... Jesus being the prime example ... and as my brain trys to grasp those truths, my Heavenly Father slips those notes of encouragement all around me ... to make sure i can see them ... to see people who are His encouragers ... and draw Leo and i closer to each other as we both get closer to HIM who redeemed us ... ... i am so sorry for your hurt, but as we both know - GOD uses that hurt to grow us into women who love others despite tears that are unfairly caused ... big (hugs) ... every season ends ... praying both our seasons are drawing to a close and tho fall is in the air, may springtime rule in our hearts . ..
