Uh-oh! Is Debra Using a Cane Now? Nah, Just Kinda-Sorta. :)

Remember how my getting-back-in-shape part of prepping wasn't going so terrific?

Well, finally I'm stretching more often. Strolling around the block most days (without feeling like crawling back home, even), partly thanks to this ain't-it-great? global warming (wink). How wonderful to have delicious 50 degree days in Buffalo in December!

I'll take 'em.

Which reminds me. Here's what I take with me on those walks--one of Tom's spare canes.

As I told him, I carry it in case I meet up with any mean dogs. Or mean men.

So far, so good.

Yet the cane also steadies me when I reach down to pick up twigs for my end-of-the-world-campfire/rocket stove-wood collection. Each day I return with a tiny handful of potential fuel and toss it into a plastic bin on the side of our house.

It adds up, you know. Anything we do again and again quickly becomes a collection and may all our collections--whether it be twigs or habits or words--be found pleasing in God's sight.

He still sees all, you know. Sees me on my walks or Tom miles away at his office or Naomi way out in California. And I'm so glad that, even in a divided, scary 2015, He and His angels still watch over us.

"The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever."   ... Psalm 121:8

Wow. Not everyone will agree with this article by Zach Drew. But I do. Majorly.  :)

Do you ever watch the show, Last Man Standing

It took awhile to grow on me (Tom liked it immediately), but now I'm hooked. (Well, I'm not as crazy about the first season.) Anyway, I appreciate how they explore relevant topics in humorous, but thought-provoking ways and many nights before I go to bed, we watch an episode on Netflix or a new one On Demand.

What I find interesting? Nearly every episode mentions God--in good ways. I found an article where Tim Allen called himself an intellectual Christian (hmm...), so I've been praying he'll become a full-fledged, bowing-at-the-foot-of-the-cross Christian.

I began praying for actors when I was 9 years old. Just one of those odd things, I guess. But I still enjoy doing so.

But whatever--you, also, may enjoy Last Man Standing. The second season and beyond. heh.  :)  (The episode with the two Duck Dynasty guys had some awesome God moments.)

"Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12: 6-7" I love this verse, Debra. It reminds me that God is watching over me *wherever* I go :) Lovely post, as always!!!

We are so blessed to know that He is watching us today, tomorrow, and forever. Thank you for reminding us of this priceless truth. BTW, I happen to have two canes and there have been times when I had to use both of them. They hang in the front closet--always ready--just in case I need them.

Susan--Thanks! Those are such perfect verses, also. I often think of the one about birds, in fact, when I look out our windows to the feeders. :)

Pam--ever since Tom began using two canes, he's been able to walk so much better. It's a blessing when we can admit we need them--I've known people who couldn't and they kept falling down until they finally gave in to using canes or a walker. How good to get rid of our pride and admit truth!

Thanks, Ladies! Blessings, Debra
