“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." --- Matthew 7:7

Something was wrong.
After 6 weeks, my hearing was restored, the uti and fibroid issues had vanished, but still, there I lay on the red couch tired, listless and coughing. Not all days, but many.
I'd wondered on Monday if I could have celiac disease, but on Tuesday, Kathryn (whose videos helped me mentally survive these weeks), stated she was gluten intolerant-- and oh!
Bunny trail time.
Traipsing down lists of symptoms, I was all, "Yes! It's like that." And although I'd been eating around 80% gluten free, I'd now have to go 100%. That is, if I wanted to finally feel better.
(I do! I do!)
But oh, the foods one must give up. And although I didn't actually cry, I came close. Gone, all those decades of simplicity, of eating anything yet feeling terrific. All the memories of dining at cute diners, church potlucks and in homes of friends, etc. Sigh.
Yet the more research I did, the more Youtube folks kept saying, "Now is actually a good time to be gluten intolerant! The food choices are updated and varied and actually taste good.
And after doing some online window shopping, God has helped me come away encouraged. Also, in just 4 days, I'm accomplishing things around the house and spending less time on the couch.
I am feeling better, stronger and living a forever-deeper life of gratitude, which was part of God's plan all along.
Is He so good or what?

Yes! If you think about it, it's much like this:
Never give up! Quitters rarely find anything life-changing. Answers exist, we just have to ask God to lead us to them.
Oh, and I'm also dairy free because of the fibroid stuff. Only in some cases is it difficult avoiding dairy, but kinda hard when it comes to pizza. シ
And I appreciate that some restaurants in our area have gluten free options. We found a website which lists who offers at least a few gf choices.

I can't even explain how much I enjoyed this video. For months I'd hoped her home would be featured again without Christmas decor, and there it was!
And here's her mom's home. Such inspiring ladies! (Though yeah, I do come away feeling like a creative dud.) シ
A video of Kathryn and Adam's I especially liked.
One of the gluten free videos which encouraged my heart!
If you're really into genealogy, you may enjoy this new channel.

Oh, I sure hope that this is the thing that finally gets you permanently back on your feet. Health stuff is no fun, that's for sure. Our Montana grandkids have celiac disease. It's so hard for kids with birthday parties, school lunches, etc. They are both graduated now, but even as littles, they knew the questions to ask at restaurants etc. They knew how much better they felt when they ate right and it was worth it. Our grandson was 6 years old when he was tested and is severely impacted and had stunted growth. When they eliminated gluten he grew 9 inches in three months!!! Isn't that amazing. He's still not real tall, only 5'7" but is very athetic and active.
I'll be praying for you Debra. I know it's not easy to give up all of the good stuff.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
There are times in our lives where we begin to wonder, "What next Lord?" Well I confess that's what I thought when I read your post, Debra. You and your family have been challenged much, but we know that you are God's kids and He's right in the middle of everything. A week ago, I felt awful and diagnosed myself with diverticulitis. I went off solid food and drank clear liquids for nearly 2 days. Went back on soft foods. I cannot begin to tell you how quickly I started to improve once I went on liquids. Not that anyone would want to be so limited, but the truth is that our bodies sometimes need intervention. I believe the Lord is leading you to find what your body needs in order to heal and thrive. Will keep on praying for you, Tom and Naomi.
Oh Betsy! I can't imagine being a child with celiac. I've read a bit about it. Oh dear. I'm glad they made it though and I thank you for your prayers! I'm thinking the real problem was that gluten was worsening my cough (read about that, too), so perhaps I'm not gluten intolerant--but -- I do plan on sticking with being gluten free. It seems to help me feel better. Thanks for commenting and sharing your stories!
Pam--thanks so much for mentioning fasting! That was confirmation. After reading your comment I did a 40 hour liquid fast and yay! I did feel better afterward. (Ok, I had one small gluten free cookie in the middle. I had to anticipate something. heh.) But I do thank you for mentioning it. God bless you much!
Thanks, Ladies! ... Debra
