So If We Buy The House Next Door ...

"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land ... You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."   ...Isaiah 58:11

*****

Remember Robin and Paul, our cute neighbors who never run out of things to talk about while lounging in their backyard? (In fact, here's their pretty yard which, from my upstairs' view, reminds me of Hawaii):

(Downright inspiring, if you ask me.)

Well. Yesterday I spied a For Sale sign upon their chain link fence. Darn! Robin told me earlier that they might sell the house this Spring, but I'm thinking they found a place already because, to me online, they're giving their house away.

Anyone want to move next door to me? Now's your chance.

They're taking offers between only $40,000 and $60,000 (!) (If I've known you for eons and you'd like to view the listing photos for fun, message or email me and I'll send you a link. Robin's is a traditional, 1970's-ish kind of decorating style which I like.)

Of course, me being me, last night I got a bright idea. Maybe Tom and I could buy Robin and Paul's place and, between the two houses, just build a cute enclosed breezeway. Instantly we'd have almost 2,000 sq. feet--oh my! And we could each have our own house.  :)

But you know what we'd also have? Twice the property taxes to pay and two houses to clean and furnish and keep repaired. Yes, we'd have more room if Naomi were to move back in for awhile, but--and this is what really crushed my dream-- I'd also have another yard to mow. And, well, no. Their lawn is tiny, ok, but mowing our present lawn nearly brings me to my knees.

So, no thanks. We won't be buying the house next door. And since we're more the lazy type than the landlord type, we'll not purchase it as a rental either.

Yet isn't it fun to dream? Especially during these long, snowy winters when Life and the heart slow down and afternoons are spent at the windows, reading with a little heater blowing upon one's feet.

Never stop dreaming, ok? Always have crazy dreams and reasonable, doable ones, also. Our dreams can reveal to us what's missing and what we most love, desire and need, as well as cool, useful ideas and places where God wishes us to go.

It's when we substitute worrying, complaints and sadness for our dreams that Life begins to grow dark and we forget the Light which is always within us to warm our hearts, light our way and renew us like a well-watered garden.

Yes, even in Winter.

Last night's pink sunset. This would be part of your view if you move next door to me.  :)

Speaking of larger houses (and dreaming big-time) did you see Bob Hope's former home? My oh my. That library, and also, all those windows with their stunning views!

Yesterday I  finally watched The 100 Foot Journey. Or parts of it, anyway because I fast-forwarded lots. I knew it would be about cooking and its philosophy, of course, but not that much about it.

I don't like cooking. Nor cooking philosophy, no matter how deep and wise.

And the romance part was cute, I guess, but their conversations seemed to last an eternity.

And well, as I've stated before, I don't like romance movies. Not anymore.

So I guess The 100 Foot Journey was doomed for me from almost its beginning. heh.

But if you liked it, I'm happy for you.

Oh Debra, how you torture me! To have a sweet little house next door to you would be lovely. However, hubby won't budge. I guess it just isn't meant to be.

oooops. I didn't mean for my comment to sound like you were speaking directly to me. Hahaha

Oh Debra, I would love to live next door to you! We would have such a good time! I even had a dream last night that I was visiting you, but that is too far from my Grandchildren!

Dolores--I enjoyed your comments at Facebook! :)

Elizabeth--I'd love to live in between you and Dolores! Maybe we'll all just have to wait until Heaven, though. :)

Thank-you, Ladies! Blessings, Debra
