When God Tells You To Walk Away

Twenty years ago I tried to fix a relationship, but wow. The person went all ugly on me. Lied, twisted my words/actions from months before.

Not a good time.

At one point, my mouth dropped open with disbelief--and that's when I quietly picked up my purse and left. No words, only the man's sweet wife asking her husband to stop speaking hung on the air.

Outside at my van, I pulled open the door and oh my! Within me, this firm thought came, "Shake the dust from your feet before you step into the van." So I did. I felt God all over that command.

Never before had that happened, nor has it since.

Then last year, an online friend of 11 years and I called it quits. In our final emails I stayed calm (that made her mad, tho' to be fair, yes, you're only hearing my side) and reiterated how I believed what I'd said (a verse was one thing). In her last email she stated she'd refused to open my previous email.

So I walked away. Let her go. And it wasn't easy, but sad, because she'd been a rare friend with whom I could talk about God Things. Always, I'm searching for those companions, yet hardly ever finding them.

Even now I look at a gift she'd mailed me years before and I pray for her to have an awesome, blessed day and reap rewards because of that much-appreciated present.

Then weeks ago I considered emailing her, thanking her again for that gift, telling her of my prayers for her great days and-- But I wasn't sure if I should. So well, I don't do this super often, but I asked God for confirmation as to whether I should contact her.

Two days later, oh my goodness! He made sure I saw this at Youtube, but He might as well have sent 2 angels with scrolls, singing, "The Lord sayeth NO at this time..." The shock of its obviousness would've been about the same.

When people walk away from you, let them go. 
Your destiny is never tied to anyone who leaves you 
And it doesn't mean they are bad people.
It just means that their part in your story is over.


Yes, they're not bad people at all. It's just that by holding onto them, we'll fail to meet God ahead at the place from which He's waiting to fly us home. We'll have taken a different street.

During these wild upcoming days, sometimes we'll be forced to choose between walking with certain friends or walking with God. And may we always recognize when we're being asked to make that choice--and choose rightly every single time.

Oh wow I love that movement! You always introduce me to things I don't know! I try not to say political things unless I am with like minded people because you will be attacked! What happened to agree to disagree and good manners? And I am sorry about your friend. That is always hard.

Like Angela, I tend to not say anything because I don't do disagreements well. I ALWAYS start crying and lose any effectiveness or credibility I may have had. But, as this movement says, we have been silent and look where it has gotten us.
I'm so sorry about your friend. I have read so many negative things just this morning about how there is NO way you could be a Christian and support Trump. According to them, he may as well be the anti -christ. But they ignore the things the liberals are doing and supporting that are completely anti-Christ.
I just want to bury my head in the sand until He comes back for us and yet, I know that's impossible.

This is the first time I've heard of the Walk Away Movement and it has really grabbed my attention! Debra, you've opened my eyes, once again, and I appreciate it so much. Now I've gotta do more research.
