The folks who I feel sorry for? Those who've, since March, camped out upon their recliners watching the news. And turned into zombies.
So. Sad.
Now, I've watched the news, of course, but, 1.) I refuse to watch mainstream media news ('a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump,' shall we say. Er hem.), so I searched for alternative news sources.
Whew. What a relief to find these (technically I don't watch each; I'm just presenting these for variety and your consideration)--
One America News Network (OANN)
Blaze TV, via Youtube here
And Twitter. Daily I love me some Twitter. (Deal with it.) シ
And 2.) I've sought to stay busy, productive, proactive because hey, 'idle hands are the devil's playthings'. It's a thing. Gulp.
Lists! I've made lists. Lived by lists, but that's what you've gotta do sometimes, especially when a year like 2020 happens.

Ok, of course not all of these are written upon paper or a draft folder. Some exist only inside my head.
But as I've sought to complete these goals (no, I've not arrived, but I believe in aiming at targets rather than the air), they've kept my mind and body active, miles from passivity, fear and confusion--
--and far from feeling a loss of control (which, disagree if you will, is exactly where the government wants us so they can control us, instead).
Ol' Debra's never gonna turn into a Well, What Are Ya Gonna Do? Zombie.
Not ever.

Here's a dry mix we like for Ranch Salad Dressing.
Instead of the dry buttermilk, I use powdered milk because I'm stocked up on it. Turns out fine and tasty when you dredge raw chicken in the dry mix. I store this mix in a glass jar:
Dry Ranch Mix (Makes 1+ cup mix)
1 c. dry butter milk powder (or powdered milk)
4 tbl. parsley
2 tbl. garlic powder
2 tbl. onion powder
4 tsp. dried chives
2 tsp. dill
3 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pepper

Ah Debra you always encourage me to live my best life- wherever I am, wherever God has put me. Just took a load to the Goodwill- number 4! I feel so much lighter! And REALLY blessed two people in need with freebies on Craigslist. Wish I could tell you those amazing stories. I am the one who felt blessed. I really enjoyed the article you linked. I have often found my attitude changes the minute I turn grumbling into a thank you. Keep going girl! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI read the article “It is an Honor....”! Loved it! Thank you for sharing that!
ReplyDeleteThis year has been a year of total change from us. Talk about down-sizing! From a 4 bedroom/3 bath house to a 37 foot travel trailer. Lots of loads to the Goodwill lighter. Around 29 to be exact! And you know what? We haven't missed anything. It's amazing what you can do without. We did keep a storage unit with some furniture and kitchen things for when we get another home next year.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I'm loving a simpler life with not as much cleaning. I've been doing Patricia Shirer's "The Armor Of God" Bibe study online with other ladies. Boy, is it relevant for today's world.
I've decorated our little home and continued crafting for charity. I only check the news once a day on trusted sources. I'm tired of lies and deception. I would rather bury my head in the Word of God. Nope. I'm not burying my head in the sand and ignoring what's happening. Instead I've joined in 33 days of fasting and prayer for the election certification next week. There are several of us doing that. The prayers of the saints availith much!
Have a lovely day my dear friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Thanks for forwarding this! I've missed you! I'm very impressed with your list! So ambitious you are!
ReplyDeleteThis is Linda Gilmore
DeleteMore great links. Thanks, Debra! I already checked out a couple of the news sources you listed, and read the article about it being an honor to be born during these times. Wow. That is such a powerful and right way for us to think. Hey Angela and Betsy, I just finished getting a donation ready for Goodwill, too! Tis the season;)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all that you shared. You have some great list titles!
ReplyDeleteAngela--I appreciated your comment so much on many different levels! Thank-you. I'm so happy to hear you're giving to others so freely.
ReplyDeleteBetsy--I'm glad to hear you're still enjoying your new down-sized home! Reminds me of when Tom and I rented a one bedroom apartment before we bought our farm. Life was so simple there. Only toward the end of the six months did I want to return to big projects--must've been Grace preparing me for the big projects on the farm!
Linda--I missed you, too! I'm enjoying MeWe and the peace there lately and starting something new. Thanks for reading here so faithfully!
Pam--happy you liked the links! Glad you're able to let items go, as well. I'm still doing my casting off ten things weekly practice and still feeling lighter each time. :)
Kim--I really appreciated your comment! Glad you liked the links and words.
Thanks so much, Everyone, for taking the time to comment and read here! Blessings, Debra
