It's never 'just politics' if we're honestly asking, "Hey, God! Please explain to me what you're trying to do here."
******
Wow. That King Cyrus, right?
"This is what the Lord says to his anointed,
to Cyrus,
I summon you by name
and bestow on you a title of honor,
though you do not acknowledge me.
5 I am the Lord, and there is no other;
apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
though you have not acknowledged me...
I will raise up Cyrus[b] in my righteousness:
I will make all his ways straight.
He will rebuild my city
and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward,
says the Lord Almighty.” (from Isaiah 45)
Hmm.... reminds me of a certain President, anyway.
And let's go here:
"And God changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings..." ... Daniel 2:21
President Donald J. Trump. Hopefully you've noticed he's become a champion of God's yet-unborn-babies as well as evangelicals:
“Children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God,” the president said as the room erupted in applause. “Every life is sacred and every soul is a precious gift from heaven, as the Lord says,” he continued, echoing comments he made in Tuesday's State of the Union address.
(Update 1/21/20)-- Pres. Trump declared a new name for the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade: National Sanctity of Human Life Day(!)

“My administration is also speaking out against religious persecution around the world, including against religious minorities, Christians, and the Jewish community,” the president said, adding that he appointed a “new special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism.” (From here.)
And an update (1/19/20)! Go here to see how President Trump has restored prayer to schools. Also, he issued an executive order regarding free speech at colleges--or else(!)

Not to mention the hugely-important-to-God thing: President Trump moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, thus declaring it to be the capitol of Israel(!)
If you can imagine Hillary Clinton doing any of this, Honey, congrats on quite the remarkable imagination.
Why I refuse to speak negatively about our President? I believe 'God voted this time'. (Deal with it.) He has specific plans for our planet and knows exactly who can bring them to pass. And when has God chosen anyone (besides Jesus) who was perfect? For shock value, check out the early lives of Abraham, Moses, Samson, King David and the Apostle Paul.
Yikes.
And seriously, would God approve of our remembering those men only for their early lives? Their mistakes or deceptions? Uh, no. Go concentrating solely on those and you'll miss the whole point that God majors in redemption! Those later stories these thousands of years later still serve as valuable, precious Life lessons for us all.
And perhaps if we'd cease with our impatience (expecting Trump to change light years faster than we ever have) we may just, one day, learn the incredible lessons God means to teach us (and the plans He intends to see happen) via this 45th President of the United States.
"The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases." ... Proverbs 21:1

Update! 1/24/20:
And as I stated at Facebook:
Wow. I am not a bigtime crier, but I cried during this whole speech. What a beautiful, historic day. Color me grateful to God that I would live to see this.
******
And if you are still hung up on Donald Trump's sins before he came into Office? Good grief!--
" Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

Yesterday I signed four measures that will massively reduce the prices of prescription drugs, in many cases by more than 50%. Nothing like this has ever been done before because Big Pharma, with its vast power, would not let it happen. Expensive Insulin went from big dollars to virtual pennies. Epi-pens went from their incredibly high, jacked up prices, to lower than their original give away bargains. Biggest price reductions in history, by far! Nothing like this has ever for our citizens, especially our Seniors. REMEMBER YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT!

Well. You went there. And I'm so glad you did. I feel much the same as you do about President Trump, and although I don't have time to listen to the links you provided today, I will definitely do it soon.
ReplyDeleteToday is Dennis' birthday and it's also our Bible Study Christmas party here at our house tonight. We started having it in January about 10 years ago and it's so much better and more relaxed. There is too much happening in December and it's nice to have something in January although granted, it's usually during the first week of the month. However, Dennis was in Omaha visiting his sister and Mom last week so we waited another week.
All of that to say, I have to get busy today and make food, clean house, etc. No time to be sitting on the computer, so what am I doing on here? Ha!
Talk to you soon my friend and keep up the good fight.
Blessings,
Betsy
Thank you for this post, I agree with you whole heartedly and support our President and the direction he is leading us.
ReplyDeleteBlasphemy
ReplyDeleteBetsy--you made me smile! I hope your husband had a wonderful birthday and may you enjoy those videos as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteTerra--thanks so much for reading and commenting! I appreciate your support of our president as well as my post. Thanks again!
bjn--Your next-door-to-anonymous comment made me giggle. I thought, "What an articulate, well-thought-out, discussion-worthy response!" Ha! :) Actually, I'd planned to, earlier yesterday morning, touch upon the Left's inability to sanely discuss Today's issues, but your comment succinctly proved that, so hey! I have no need to go there now. Thanks for that!
Thank-you, Everyone! Blessings, Debra
Hallelujah and Amen, Sister ... Preach it! I absolutely 100+% agree! I'm so happy that you posted this and I too believe that God placed him there as President for a reason. He's done more for Christians than any president that I can remember, ya know?!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I am guilty of being lulled into the thinking of the mainstream media. Even though I know it's skewed, its themes become the background noise of life. I was not familiar with Giles and Landau, and I haven't listened enough to know much about them, but what I did hear made me sit up and think. I even started doing research on Cyrus. Every day, I pray for our President and leaders because we need God's intervention and his guidance, desperately. Why wouldn't God work through DJT or any of our elected officials?! Thanks for sharing, Debra!
ReplyDeleteVery well said. Thank you for your courage to go "there".
ReplyDeleteDebi--thanks so much for your much-appreciated encouragement! I'm glad we're on the same page yet again.
ReplyDeletePam--you're most welcome and I hope you've enjoyed the videos I mentioned. I've listened much more to Lance Wallnau lately and appreciate his ministry so much.
Kim--thanks for reading here and frankly I'm glad I 'went there' also. :)
Rhank, Everyone! Blessings, Debra
