The People Who Do--And Do Not--Read My Blog

"I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus."   ... 1 Corinthians 1:4

*****

Can you believe it? Next month I'll have written in this blog for ten years. Ten years! (More about that in later weeks.)

But before I go on, may I encourage you? If God's asking you to begin a thing, for goodness' sake, just start. Begin small and patiently and faithfully and then one day you'll wake up and discover that, wow! Ten years zoomed past, your life changed, God enabled you to become good at something and you helped a few people along the way.

Anyway, miraculously, some of you have read here a whole 9 - 10 years! Let's see, there's Wilma, Joyce, Betty, Corrine, Saija and Rodney. Others who've hung in there with me at least 6 - 8 years are Anne, Judy H., Deborah, Kristi, Nancy, Debi, Roger, Elizabeth and Elizabeth, Tracy, Susan, Pat, Sara, Mary, Linda K., Robin, Rosemary, Julie, Bonnie, Rita, Brian, Clarice, Karen G., Jodi, Beth--and--Pearl and Dapoppins if they are still here. Other honorable mentions go to Jeanette, Cheryl, Fawn, Kim, Michelle, Linda, Judy M., Barbara, Carolyn, Althea, Hope, Myrna, Susan M., Terra, Terri, Jennifer, Donna, Pam, Carol and--

Ok. For anyone I forgot because during these ten years my poor ol' brain has aged--please--forgive me, then tell me to add your name by way of my comment box. (And if you've been a 'secret reader' for many years, please let me know that, also. I love hearing from those who lurk amongst us!)

I so appreciate all my faithful readers! Without anyone reading here, what would be the point? I'd have deleted this thing eons ago because I'm certainly not in this to write to or help myself. :)

Now. Who most likely does not read my blog, like, ever?

Big-time Intellectuals. I mean, hey. The reasons are pretty obvious.

Blamers.  Folks searching for excuses to blame family/preachers/politicians for their bad days/life will not find fodder here.

Emotional types.  Those who enjoy riding the waves of 30 emotions in any given hour would find my blog Dullsville. Making decisions based on my emotions scares me and I'm trying to get away from it.

'Everything Must be Modern' Folks--uh, no.

Uptight, Legalistic Christians-- hmm... only if they're trying to become un-uptight. Otherwise, nope.

God Haters or Agnostics. Well, a few have tried to like my blog, but they tire of all the God-talk. Pretty fast.

Who, I've found, does read my blog?

Learners.
Creative types.
People who want to grow.
Those who still have an imagination & think outside of the box.
Folks who love all things home and yard related.
Lovers of God.
And dear friends who wish to encourage me.

And to all of you I say you are appreciated more than you'll ever know.

Thank-you.

Did you see the little shelf thingy at the top? With its dark blue paint it doesn't scream 'old-fashioned wicker bathroom shelf' (which it is). Found it this weekend at a yard sale for only $2 and am using it to s-t-r-e-t-c-h my book storage options around here.

And for those of you who love to read book spines (hi Kristi!) here's a close-up:

  2. So none of your readers are big time intellectuals? Should some of us be offended? LOL!
    (not me obviously - heh)

    Happy anniversary Debra! :)

Congratulations Debra!!! I don't know if I have been reading since the very start. I know you were in your little house years before the farm move. I have enjoyed it forever. You are one of the few on my top computer bar as a go to site. I think over the years I changed my comment name too. ?? :-) Your posts have though been consistently rewarding to read! :-) We who come here say thank you Debra for keeping us thinking and doing, imagining and wondering and pondering and praying for sure. Mainly keeping our eyes and hearts on The One who should be first. Thanks again!!!! Sarah

  7. Hi Debra,
I mostly read blogs on my Kindle.
It's a bit more difficult to write comments, in fact I "lost" the first comment I was writing. So I don't comment much for that reason.
I do enjoying reading your daily posts.
    Take care,
    Nancy from Montana

  9. Sarah--as I've mentioned before, you have such a great way with words! I do thank you for them and please do let me know if you ever start a blog of your own! I would read it everyday.

Pat--thank-you! And one of my goals is to make people laugh so I'm glad you've done that a few times. :)

Susan--you've always been one of my greatest encouragers all these years--thanks so much!

Nancy from Montana--oh thank-you for delurking! Love that--it's always a joy to meet those who read here.

Elizabeth--ack! Earlier this morning I'd written 'both Elizabeths' in my 6 - 8 year list but later on, my fingers touched a key which erased a couple names (*&#$@), yet by that time I couldn't recall just whose names were missing! So I did add both of you back after seeing your comment and I do thank you for reading here and commenting for so many years!!

    Thanks, Everyone! Blessings, Debra

Oh no matter, Debra...I am sad I cannot remember WHEN it all began...heh!! So much has happened in my life these last 15 years anyway, I could write not only a book, but several...heh, you might figure that...

  11. Ten years? Has it been that long? Watching you move and settle and move again. Sharing in all the Change that means God doesn't want us to stop growing and learning. Ten years. Huh. Wow. Congrats! And good for you.

  12. Hi Debra! I've been reading you since before you moved to the farm. How many years ago did you move to the farm? I've lost track. Man, time flies!

    Happy blog anniversary!

  13. Dapoppins--yay! I'm glad you're still reading here after all this time. Thank-you for sticking with me for so very long!

Robin--ack again! Yours was the other name that accidentally got erased from my 6 - 8 years list. I'll be sure to add it again.

Oh, and we moved to the farm in May of 2008. Did you begin reading here when we were in our apartment or the earlier suburb house? Thanks so much for being such a faithful encourager!

    Thanks, Ladies! Blessings, Debra

  14. Happy Anniversary, Debra!!! Your blog was such a rare find for me when I needed it most. I couldn't stop reading until I'd dug up all your previous posts. Your writings are a testimony to your faith, love of family and home, and indomitable spirit. You're a bright light to us! Thank you.

Lost my previous comment! Congrats. Debra, it's been a short ten years. Keep up the good work. When you started writing, I didn't even know what a blog was, lol. Like the book spines. Have even read some of them-great memories. Thanks again, job well done. Joyce
