The Gift of a Day

Oh yesterday!

We had forty-eight incredible, sunny degrees so I washed my kitchen sink window then opened all the others and the red door, too, and switched on the ceiling fan and remembered what warm weather feels like and how it inspires my brain. 

Then I walked around the block and b-a-r-e-l-y made it home. 

Gah. While I unlocked the back door, this new ditty taunted me: 

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice laziness."

Alas! Although it's wonderful that Neighbor Mike shovels snow for us, I also see how valuable my previous 33 snow-shoveling years actually were: they kept my back strong.

Anyway. 

After recuperating, I stepped outside again to pick up fallen branches then sat upon our sunny steps and basked and dreamed of Spring-to-be because it is coming even though today, oh dear, we're due for a blizzard and 12 inches of snow. 

Will I complain? No, for that's March in Buffalo (and besides, the Complainer's Group's quota is filled). But Winter's grip has weakened and so I'll choose faith over both cabin fever and worrying about Tom who'll be travelling home from work with thousands of others at the peak of the storm.

Today in the snow, I'll clasp a Meantime Happiness and thank God for the sweet taste of Springtime He sent us yesterday. That Hope made visible. His timing was encouraging, perfect, but then, it always is.

What God wants to give to you will get to you; stop trying to take hold of what He hasn't handed to you yet!

This week Tom and I finally saw the movie, 42.
Loved it, although I cried through nearly the entire thing. Prejudice always boils my blood and makes tears, like steam, escape.

    Today here was a balmy 57 degrees, after some foggy, rainy days...so tonight we drove down to the waterfront to watch the sunset and bake a bit in the setting sun within our enclosed car...nice!! Don't envy you all that snow...but tis a great excuse to rest, relax and do whatever fun things you can from inside.

  4. Hi Ladies! Thanks for your encouragement that Spring is coming soon. I can feel it and even see it in the 'slant of light' outside and the excitement grows. I think we'll all appreciate Spring a bit more than usual this year!
