I think I live in The Twilight Zone.
I mean, this weekend while at my supermarket, people laughed with each other while ambling along with their carts. I helped one older couple find a working scale and we joked together and I felt giddy. The cashier pushed through my coupons which 'bad beeped' and I saved $63 with sales and coupons. And when I told the 20-something woman at the service desk that I hadn't been charged for a huge bag of birdseed last week and wanted to pay, she said I must be an honest person. I told her I needed to be able to live with myself--and God-- and she chuckled and said, "Right!"
At Target I didn't slip in the ice rink parking lot and had the store to myself (nearly), the only sound breaking the silence was more customer and cashier laughter. The genuinely pleasant cashier put through my coupons with not one bad beep.
I expect to find delight whenever I shop and God (and Buffalo) never disappoint me. "Be it unto you even as you have believed, " and all that. Really.
And a miracle? God helped me not complain as much about winter this year (in my past years' blog posts I complained lots ...tsk) and I actually enjoyed this one(!) And even when we awoke to snow this morning I reminded myself that occasional snow in March means Winter's power is weakening and he's losing his grip.
And that is celebrate-able.
I think I'll spend less time online around Complainer Christians. You know, those critical, you're-all-wrong types who tattle on people they do not know and crab about Life's imperfections. The ones who say even with God inside us, this world is mostly a horrid place. Why face battles in my head to view people and Life as God does if there's no need?
God sooo loves people, even though He remembers we are only dust. (Proverbs 103)
Instead, may I keep asking God to show me what's and who's Gone Right and Pleasant. And may He keep giving me more Good to report back to you from out here in The Twilight Zone Buffalo.

It's another gorgeous Springtime morning here at Hobbit Cottage. :)

should I be jealous? I do think you had a bit more snow than we did yesterday.......Or at least more accumulation on the group! Yesterday morning I was admiring my snowdrops and later in the day could not really see them anymore. But snowdrops are rather tough....And this morning glorious sunlight is illuminating the flowers on the witch hazel against the blue sky and wine dark pine branches......Every day has it own special blessing to find!
ReplyDeleteLove your positive, cheerful attitude, Debra. It has gotten me through many a gloomy day. Thanks for reminding us that every day holds small blessings if we just take the time to notice them.
ReplyDeleteWell, it helps to look at situations (like being "baited and switched" 3 times the last couple days in our apt searches) as GOD's direction/protection. HE must have a different location HE wants us to see...and we have not found it yet. THANKFULLY we have a spot to camp meanwhile. Told my daughter today I am ready to get a small camping rig and find a trailer park!! Heh...she did not like that idea. Might be ok...you never know. We just have to have an open mind to all kinds of possibilities, right? And not worry meanwhile. At least hubby is retired, at least he does not have to worry about how to fit all this in while working a job!! Well, enjoy the beauty of the snow while it lasts and store some up for the hot days of summer. We can ALWAYS put on more clothes right?

Hi Kristi! Our snow had nearly all melted and then we got this so I know what you mean, but oh my, no flowers of any kind here yet. But shoots from bulbs are rising--yay! (I know you know what I mean.)Good to hear from you again ... it's been awhile! :)
ReplyDeleteRosemary--oh! Your comment was such an encouragement to me, for me. I do thank you for letting me know my posts cheer you!
Elizabeth--may you find just the right place for you and your husband soon and may the journey be as pleasant as possible! (I know how house hunting can feel.... oh my!) :)
Thanks, Ladies! Blessings, Debra
Shortly after I went to bed last night I heard a noise that worried me. This morning, hubby said someone locked the top lock on the door (it has to have a key in it so he has left that one unlocked and just put in the chain above it...bottom lock is locked...said it would make it hard to get out in a fire, so did not want the keyed lock locked)...well, this AM it WAS LOCKED. I did not get up to investigate because I only heard the one noise and no more. By the way we have strong metal posts, adjustable, that we put under the door handle in the family room and also under our room door at night, because daughter has too freely given people the code to get into the locked box with the key...sigh...this happened after midnight last night. SO!! Maybe we need to work more on finding someplace!! Easier than changing ALL her door locks!! We have little for anyone to steal...except our identity. OH sigh...thanks for your well wishes!!

I guess I am blessed as none of the bloggers I go to are complainers. Starting with you!!! :-) There are many things in this world to upset us for sure but we need to pray on what we can change and what we have to step around and go on with our lives. Prayer and more prayer. God is certainly the only one who knows. Spreading kindness is contagious. That's for sure. You smile and the next person is apt to smile back and that smile changes their whole thinking. Their thinking then changes the next and after a while you have a store to visit where people are laughing and smiling! Thanks for always going against the tide and being the sunshine in people's lives. Sarah
