Updates From Hobbit Cottage

So. Ol' Debra painted her kookie-but-much-loved grandfather clock and that side table thing and the short wall around our big front window. Color! Finally our living room has a bit of color. (And no, those drapes do not glow in Real Life. Only in my photos. heh.)

And see the green of the table? That's actually the color I chose for our large wall, but you'd probably never guess that by the color swatch I showed you on Monday. It's truly a fact that colors appear different on different computers:  I added that swatch on Tom's computer, then came upstairs to my computer where the shade appeared all wrong! Oh well. Use your imagination and just make it the shade of green you prefer. :)

And I tweaked the dining area a bit, also:

I'm still in love with our glass-top table. Should have done that eons ago.

These Grace-led times of making changes around the house are wonderful, but oh.... tiring now that I'm in my 50's. But how good to collapse into a recliner and view the results!

********

And let this encourage you... Remember when Naomi left a week ago Monday and I took a simple walk around our block? And then practically had to crawl along the last bits of sidewalk since I'm so out of shape? Well, in just a week of walking, I'm now making it around a large (to me) 3-block area, including the amazing retro neighborhood which whisks me back to the 1920's with all those pretty American Foursquares.

Also, before each walk, I step down to the basement and gather cast-off stuff into a trash bag then--at the end of the first block--I leave that bag in the oh-so-conveniently-located Salvation Army bin. A proverbial 'killing two birds with one stone,' if you will--decluttering and getting back into shape.

As they say, inch by inch, anything's a cinch. The only thing? One must hang in there long enough to still be around for the desired results.

One must not quit early.

I'm loving this makeover, Debra -- so cheerful and very "cottage-like". The new colors seem to enlarge the room too.

  2. Oh, Debra! You have to know I LOVE that clock, being such a fan of red, but that green table is my new favorite color––and very similar to the color I painted our front door. In fact, I have a smaller tall clock painted a deeper red in the entryway with the green door. Great minds MUST think alike! :)

I enjoy all your posts, but your decorating posts are always my favorite. You've truly created a wonderful haven for you and your hubby.

Wow, what a difference little changes can make in a room, a routine, or just in one's outlook on life.
I like the colors you chose, and the glass top table.
    Blessings,
    Diane
