Forget-Me-Not Delights

“But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;
For behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing
And her people for gladness."   ... Isaiah 65;18

*********

I forgot to tell you that here at Hobbit Cottage we have lots and lots of forget-me-nots growing in our lawn.

Love that.

So yesterday I began The Great Transplanting of the Forget-Me-Nots 2012. I added some soil and lovely compost from those boxes at the end of our porch and then used my trusty trowel to dig forget-me-nots from the lawn and placed them at the base of our to-the-sky flag pole.

Since our first suburb house I've transplanted forget-me-nots and if there's anything easier garden-wise, I've not discovered it yet.

Speaking of our other suburb house (which you can view here), I remember wishing while living there that our yard had more of an 'old-kinda-cityish-sort-of-yard' feeling. Perhaps that makes sense only to me, but anyway, that yard did not feel that way. So I told myself to just be happy anyway.

But this house does have that feeling. Oh yeah, and I love it.

There's that planter and flagpole above and there's this:

(Love those old poles which tell us there was a gate there once.) And we have little sidewalks and a bed of ivy:

And our front porch with a river we can even peek at down the street.

And I'm so grateful for every bit and that it's a sunny morning and I'm still able to get out there and putter around in the wonder of it all. I'm learning to bask in and enjoy each day so that--should things change down the road--I'll have lived a life of joy, one with no regrets.

I am truly enjoying my return to Facebook. The vacation away from it was pleasant, but it's great to be back. Just sayin'.

Oh dear. I just found out that our dear friend, John, passed away.

Please keep Donna in your prayers, ok? We'll attend the memorial service on Thursday morning. John knew Jesus and is in Heaven, but it's still very hard letting go of him. He was the one person I met in my life who seemed much like a character out of a book--he was 72, unique, a delight.

I will miss him.

  1. Ah, yes... After working outside the home most of last year, I am more thankful than ever to be home and am enjoying it to the fullest! Life is grand when we decide to make it so. :)

  2. Note to self, plant forget-me-nots! I know just the city yard feeling you refer to; we have lots of those little touches too. But I intensely dislike sod, give me good old fashioned unpretentious grass and preferably with dandelions.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of John and prayers for Donna in her grief.

Forget Me Nots are now covering my garden beds here at the deck and walkway. Wonderful....just from tow little plants that started because I loved yours.
