My World This Morning

The lake behind our house, in the backyard.

The lake in front of our house, across the street.

One thing I love about living in Western New York? In our nearly 16 years here, we've only once had a kinda-sorta-maybe drought. Mostly we're like, "Enough already with all the water!"

And trust me, I'm grateful.

Oh! Good ol' Ben Stein has done it again

This past week I thought those very thoughts while watching the nightly news, but Ben this morning stated them way more eloquently. If you don't agree with Ben in this piece, well, you don't agree with me (but I think we will both survive that). ツ

******

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you give it shall be measured to you again." ... Luke 6:38

"Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10:8

"...remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " Acts 20:35

Ben is right. The media LOVES to spread doom and gloom, and make it seem like absolutely everyone is miserable. You know what we need in a recession? We need the media to feature at least one GOOD NEWS story on each broadcast. Show at least ONE example of some normal everyday individual, family, or small business who is still plugging along and is not in misery. They are out there. After all, as Ben pointed out, 92% of us are still employed. Instead, they give us all the bad news they can rake up and make it look THAT'S the norm. We the consumers of the news must demand better.

  6. I love Ben Stein!
I think the administration is spreading fear to justify their agenda. After all, they "can't waste a good crisis".
I prefer to dwell on the fact that 92 per cent of people who want to work, have jobs, and over 90 per cent of people pay their mortgages on time.
I'd like to forget that 58 per cent of my IRA has disappeared. And, I'm older that you, so that is not good news.
Still, we are in pretty good shape and life goes on.

  7. I love Ben Stine!

I love the pics of the lake near your house. Growing up we had a pond. and tall grass, and orchards and oh...the days. It's all gone now. Developed to the hilt.

But good memories...and I would take my Barbie outside too. She was a bit wild, climbing trees, riding horses, and often quite the amazon.

I loved her. And since i don't like change...the new Barbie is just silly.

Are those your old Barbies? I have some of mine too, but I don't think they survived as well. However, my daughter and I still love to play with them.

Oh...and I read the post at the top too. Determined to be positive. Yeah. I am not going to be frightened or angry by what is going on in the world.

God is in Control. And i love visiting you and hear someone else say it and mean it.
